Removing the old floor
Carpet, old laminate and tile all come up differently. We remove the old surface, pull staples and nails, and clear the debris. That reveals the subfloor so we can see what it needs.
Worn carpet, scratched hardwood or tired tile can hold a room back. In Milliken, Cornell, Unionville and Berczy, we install hardwood, vinyl, laminate and tile floors. We check the base underneath first, so your new floor stays flat.

High spots and dips telegraph through thin flooring like vinyl. We grind down ridges, and levelling compound fills the low areas. Any loose or squeaky subfloor panels get screws before your new floor goes on.
Hardwood suits your bedrooms and living rooms but dislikes moisture. Water doesn’t swell vinyl plank, so it suits your kitchen or basement. For your entry or bathroom, tile is the toughest choice.
Your new floor may sit at a different height from the old one. Transition strips smooth the step between rooms, and doors may need trimming to swing freely. Baseboards and quarter round finish the edges cleanly.
Concrete basement floors can carry moisture up from below. Moisture readings from the slab guide the underlay or vapour barrier we choose. A moisture-tolerant floor such as vinyl is usually the safer pick for your basement.
A photo of each room and its doorways shows the layout and transitions. Close-ups of damaged boards or cracked tiles hint at what lies underneath. Rough room measurements let us price materials before visiting.

Vinyl plank and tile handle basement moisture far better than hardwood. Engineered wood can work over a proper underlay in a dry basement. We take moisture readings before recommending a product.
Sometimes, if the same product is still made. Older floors fade and wear, so an exact match is rare. We’ll show you options that blend in or make a clean break at the doorway.
Sound baseboards can often come off and go back on. Damaged or dated trim may be worth replacing while the floor is open. We’ll discuss both before you decide.
Moving furniture can be part of your quote. You may prefer to pack fragile items and electronics yourself. Gas or water appliances may need a specialist to disconnect them safely.
A floating floor can bounce if the subfloor isn’t flat or the underlay is too thick. Lifting and re-laying the floor over a levelled base usually fixes it. We look for the cause before quoting the repair.
